2007 Fall Symposium: Care, Preservation, and Access for ScrapbooksCranbrook, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, October 12-13, 2007About The Symposium program features highly qualified speakers who will address a variety of topics relating to the care, preservation, and access to scrapbooks, and will include presentations, hands-on experience, and small-group discussions about advocacy, programming and exhibitions, preservation and conservation issues, case studies involving collections management systems and digitization projects, and theoretical discourse on scrapbooks as material culture. Sessions include: Outreach for Access: Promoting Scrapbooks through Exhibitions and Instruction (Rebecca Johnson Melvin); Archon: Simplifying Description and Access to Scrapbook Collections (Scott Schwartz, Chris Prom); Iowa Women's Scrapbooks Collection: Case Study for Digitization (Jennifer Wolfe); Code, Context, or Site of Social Memory? Scrapbooks within the Framework of Archival Studies (Susan Tucker); and Prioritizing Scrapbooks for Stabilization and Repair: A Case Study (Jennifer Hain Teper, Emily F. Shaw). Symposium attendees will earn seven (7) Archival Recertification Credits from the Academy of Certified Archivists.
