2012 Annual Meeting

Grand Rapids, Michigan, April 19-21, 2012

MAC at Forty: The Future is Now

As we head to Grand Rapids, we remember that looking forward also means looking back. Where is the profession headed? Where have we been? What skill sets define a 21st century archivist? What practice standards remain useful and how must others evolve? These are all essential questions that will be wrestled with at the Midwest Archives Conference in 2012 by a dynamic and diverse selection of panels.

We are delighted to announce that Kate Theimer has agreed to be the 2012 plenary speaker. Theimer is the author of the active blog www.archivesnext.com, Web 2.0 Tools and Strategies for Archives and Local History Collections (2009), a contributor to Many Happy Returns: Advocacy and the Development of Archives and The Future of Archives and Recordkeeping: A Reader (both 2010), and an editor of A DIFFERENT KIND OF WEB: New Connections Between Archives and Our Users (2011). We are certain that her plenary session will engage archivists from all walks of life to give us new ways to think about the work we do.
