Sami Norling is the lone Archivist at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and has held this position since January of 2014. While a graduate student in the dual Master of Library Science/MA in History program at Indiana University--Indianapolis, Sami worked in a variety of archives and special collections settings, including the Indiana Historical Society, the Library of Congress, the Association of American Medical Colleges Archives, and the Center for Digital Scholarship at IUPUI. Pursuing an interest in digital collections, Sami is a Community Representative for the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA), and is actively involved in the development of Indiana’s new DPLA Service Hub.

Today, Sami will be presenting on the IMA Archives’ NEH grant-funded project, Documenting Modern Living: Digitizing the Miller House and Garden Collection. After assuming the role of Project Manager half-way through the three-year-long grant, Sami has managed multiple unexpected changes that came up during the life of the project. She has also made the case for and enacted some changes to ensure that the completed digital collection and the user experience will live up to the NEH investment.
